Interview with project manager and professor Knut Deppert for Lund University’s Science Village establishment (Stage 2):

What is happening this fall for the university’s Science Village establishment?
This fall is packed with activities for our project team! We are currently finalizing the evaluation report for Stage 2, which has been developed in collaboration with White Arkitekter and Akademiska Hus.

The report compares our main alternative, relocating to Science Village according to Scenario 5, with two reference alternatives to provide a clear comparison. These alternatives include the cost of co-locating the Departments of Physics and Chemistry at Kemicentrum, as well as the cost of renovating existing facilities to ensure the future development of the departments. The report outlines the costs and the pros and cons of each option.

What significance does this evaluation report have for the establishment process?
The report, which will be presented in September, will serve as an important foundation for further discussions with the relevant departments, faculty, and university leadership. Although we don’t expect to have all the answers this fall, the report will provide the basis for future decisions on which direction to take and which option to investigate further.

As everyone knows, this is a complex project involving many stakeholders, and the path we choose must be developed in close dialogue with the departments. Therefore, we will place great emphasis on listening to as many perspectives as possible during the analysis to ensure the right decisions are made.

Is there anything else happening with the establishment work?
In parallel, we are continuing the work on the space function program, which we have previously discussed on our blog. We are also preparing our feedback on the municipality’s planning program for the area, and we hope that our comments will be considered in the final version.

It will be an exciting fall for the university’s establishment efforts, and we look forward to many constructive discussions! The evaluation report will be made available on the LU in SV blog once it is finalized.
